Artist about her work: “We are on this planet observing wildlife in their home. This is their space, and we are renting it for our lifespan. Not the other way around.. animals do not naturally need humans to survive.
Spheres and circles are an important image of life. The interconnected continuous line is a prominent element as a reminder of the connection of everything. Calm, observant and casually holding presence within the images, the human observes the other subject while the animal subject very significantly and confidently exists in the painting. There is a sense of longing and fascination in the human form for the animal depicted. The sense of space, along with the material of the human form is that of wood, grounds the human as an earth member but also speaks to the co-existence of the two subjects. Although they exist with harmony in relation to each other, there is still an essence of disconnect between the two.”
