Although the Hague is not our capital it is the seat of the government of Holland. Like many Dutch cities, it has an interesting blend of ultra-modern and historic architecture. You can wander around this city imagining yourself in the future and then turn a corner into a street that seems to take you back in time. This juxtaposition is an endless source of inspiration to me. I just love the way the old and the new come together and co-exist, each enhancing the uniqueness and beauty of the other.
Even though I haven’t lived in Holland for over 15 years it will always be my home. When I lived there I never really appreciated the beauty of the architecture and the typically Dutch urban elements. Only after moving away was I able to see the beauty of the city.
A piece like this is not only a way to keep the memories of my home country close to my heart, but it is also a whole new discovery of the extraordinary designs that can be found in a city that used to be so familiar and mundane.
