This painting is part of the Anonymous Series. These paintings are based on photos taken at various Museums around the country, of people looking at art, or not not looking at art! The faces are always, or mostly, turned away to create a sense of anonymity. I love how the figures create rhythms and patterns across the galleries. This shot taken in the Medieval Gallery at the Philadelphia Museum of Art as a group of young folks walked through the gallery carrying what seemed to be a rug. It was alluring!
The Anonymous Series was developed when I lived on the East Coast and had access to the many fabulous museums in NYC, Philadelphia, Washington DC. Now that I live in Santa Fe I will focus my attention on the museums of Denver and California. I have yet to start exploring that area but will soon.
