I began painting with oils in seventh grade. I grew up in Upstate New York, in a rural area that was lushly green, hilly and beautiful. My early painting dwelled on the landscape that I knew. After college and law school I practiced law for over forty years.
I have returned to art for the last several years. Although I learned painting using oils. My preference now is for acrylics and ink for the media. To be sure, acrylics are easier to use, but my preference actually reflects the vibrance and durability of colors that acrylics provide.
Although initially many of my paintings have been of natural settings, I have partially migrated to industrial scenes and architectural subjects. I like complex structures because of their sharp lines and the opportunity to display darks and lights and exciting colors. I intend my work to call out to the viewer and give a reason to engage and enjoy.
