This piece was painted back during the summer of 2020 when a plethora of video footage was circulating online and on social media of Black people being killed by the police. Originally, this piece just said “NO LIVES MATTER” because it felt like that to me at the time. I ultimately end up crossing out the “N” and changed the piece to read “OUR LIVES MATTER” because our lives in fact do matter and I wanted to use this piece to convey that message.
