This piece is part of the Anonymous Series. The paintings are based on photos I took at various Museums around the country, of people looking at art, or not not looking at art! The faces are always, or mostly, turned away to create a sense of anonymity. I love how the figures create rhythms and patterns across the galleries. This shot is from the Grand Staircase at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, looking down into the lobby/foyer. It is one of my favorite places to be.
The Anonymous Series was developed when I lived on the East Coast and had access to the many fabulous museums in NYC, Philadelphia, Washington DC. Now that I live in Santa Fe I will focus my attention on the museums of Denver and California. I have yet to start exploring that area but will soon.
