This is one of my first paintings employing the technique of intercalation of images. I was happy to discover that the removal of specific strips of the pears, one does not perceive less of the pears. On the contrary, the viewer becomes encouraged to “fill in the blank” oneself.  Hence, one actually perceives “more” pear, and be intrigued with the sense of mystery and life.
