Tucked away in the back of a Kubota Japanese Garden, the “Tree of Fire” was difficult to find. I found it as the sun set below the trees. Ambient light seemed to fall on the leaves like dust from a Disney movie. I was inspired by how the tree knew just how far to grow to kiss the pond’s surface just so. I chose this composition to show the balance the Tree of Fire has achieved with its environment.
One year after capturing this photograph, the Tree of Fire was destroyed.
