A Time for Africa, from The African Spirit Collection, is a pop art inspired metaphor for the cultural colonization of Africa. The overall impression of the piece is that of a colorful, pop art-inspired textile mural, reminiscent of Fazzino’s monumental JFK installations. At the heart of the piece is a symbolic mixing of European and African cultures, reflected through the integration of more-elegant, typically European evening fabrics with the more traditional everyday pattern work worn by many African cultures. Texture and an overall sculptural rhythm round the piece at the same time that they symbolize the ebb and flow of the overall global cultural process, further reinforced by the overall pop-cultural inspiration of the piece.

See the exclusive unveiling of the new Wild Planet Collection series from ape artists at Save the Chimps in collaboration with rock band The B-52's. The unlikely collaboration took place in June 2023 and the resulting artwork is stunningly beautiful. While on tour in New Jersey, The B-52's painted the base colors on 30 square canvases using the vivid color schemes of their most popular albums. They then picked the corresponding color combos for the chimps to use at the sanctuary in Florida. The painting apes finished their part just in time for Art Santa Fe! Don't miss the chance to collect one of these unique pieces while you can — it will be a treasure for your collection! FedEx Cares donated the shipment of the canvases, all sales benefit Save the Chimps and purchases are tax-deductible.
