We're shining the Spotlight on a curated group of exhibitors that we think are doing some cutting edge work. Check out them out: Renata Cuellar (Booth 108), Renssen Gallery (Booth 302), Surfergirl Gallery (Booth 509), Jayson Fate Art (Booth 520), Lonell Nellessen (Booth S105), and Paul McDermott (Booth S619). Aren't they inspiring?
Curatorial Team has selected a group of their favorite discoveries—each one a great option at $3,000 or less. Of course, there are thousands of affordable pieces of world-class art and on-trend, highly collectible works from across the U.S. and around the world at the fair. Are our Discoveries your favorites, too? It's a treasure hunt as you walk the show to find each one.
Want to do a [DOUBLE TAKE]? Spectrum's theme reminds us to look and then look again at the art, take measure of the artists' creativity, and be inspired by their newest works. Meet the artists and check out what's happening when some of them do live demonstrations:
Join a Salon Talk with artist, sculptor and poet Gerald Griffin. The Salon Talk is part of an on-going conversation about creating a fuller picture of both our past and present. In an effort to create a more complete American narrative, Griffin has created a bust of our country’s first Black female Vice President, Kamala Harris; a maquette of the country’s 44th and first Black President, Barack H. Obama; and a bust of a young abolitionist, Frederick Douglass. Griffin has advocated for the creation of these pieces as monuments to tell a fuller story of American history.
With Spectrum’s curatorial theme [DOUBLE TAKE] as inspiration, Tom Franco, Alan Chin and their amazing crew of artists will be creating something that will definitely make you take a second look. Their Know Going Back Tour, dedicated to bringing community together through art, culminates at Spectrum Miami. And you can bet they'll be using all their creativity to inspire you. Don't miss their art-making!
Inspired by the visual arts and you, Shana Roark is the Super Girl. She writes a poem for you on the spot! Give her a subject, a word, a memory, an experience, even a person! And she writes a custom poem on a typewriter for you to keep.
