I’ve been making photographs since I was in school, but my wife and I took up backpacking years ago to immerse ourselves in the beauty and solitude of the wilderness. Along the way we learned that after just a few days outdoors, something happens. There is an ease, a peace, that leaves you feeling like you never really want to go back in.
Mountains, lakes, trees, clouds, almost no matter what the subject, this feeling of tranquility in nature is reflected in my photographs. They bring with them something of this essence from the natural world.
For the past twenty years I have devoted myself to mastering the modern tools and techniques of image making and presentation. Each framed print is largely finished by hand in my Santa Fe studio, a solitary process that I enjoy almost as much as the outdoor adventures where the images were created.
