When a House Becomes a Home is a collaborative exhibit inviting viewers to reflect on the subtle, deliberate choices we make each day to foster a sense of belonging—within ourselves, our environments, and our shared spaces. Through this vibrant collection, the exhibit explores the unseen layers that shape how we build and rebuild our own definitions of home, both physically and emotionally. Featuring the creative home decor of Humble Design and the unique artwork of students and caregivers from the Monarch School in Barrio Logan, the exhibit reveals a colorful exploration of what lies beneath the surface—an unfolding narrative of growth, resilience, and personal transformation. All artwork is available to take home by making a suggested donation to Monarch School Project. Proceeds go directly to our community of students and families who are impacted by homelessness.
Stop by and say hello to Catherine Carlton, Colleen Veltz, and Rosa Barnes—the invited artists selected for this year's [LOCAL TALENT] Program. Funded by Art San Diego and Presenting Sponsor UBS Financial Services, in partnership with the ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station and the NTC Foundation, [LOCAL TALENT] is intended to amplify and support San Diego’s visual arts community. Discover these amazing art visionaries today—and collect them while you still can!
Look for the Discoveries Collection labels throughout the show. Art Santa Fe's Curatorial Team has selected a group of their favorite discoveries—each one a great option at $1,000 and $3,000 or less. Of course, there are thousands of affordable pieces of world-class art and on-trend, highly collectible works from across the U.S. and around the world at the show. Are their picks your favorites, too? Walk the show to find each one.
Is it the artists' creativity, the colors, the images, the messaging — or a combination of it all that draws us to an artist and their work? Meet these amazing artists and curators. Check out what's happening when some of them do live demonstrations:
Meet artist and journalist Betsy Ashton and see two of the paintings from her touring Portraits of Immigrants series. Learn how she found and met immigrants and refugees from a variety of countries, religions, and cultures. How she sought out people who have come to this country in recent years -- with and without proper visas -- to find out why they came here, what it was like getting here and settling in, and what they've been doing since. They were all strong, resilient people who have faced challenges most Americans today cannot imagine — which you can see from the character on display in their portraits and read in their stories. Meet Ashton and hear about her journey learning each person's story and the importance of giving it voice in her paintings.
