At 17, Antoine de Villiers was in a devastating motorcycle accident that claimed the life of her friend/driver. Days later, her diary was stolen and she lost her medium of expression. It was then that she found her artistic voice. Art became a means of survival while living in a volatile home with parents struggling with mental illness.
In the years that followed, Antoine learned to address the traumas in her life and turn her challenges into inspiration. She uses emotions as a guide, examining vulnerability, connection, space and our place within it.

Antoine has a lifelong obsession with the human form but doesn’t think of her figures as ‘nudes’ but rather truthful, honest and raw emotion without an amour or protective covering. She invites the viewer to project themselves in the moment rather than getting distracted by the identity of the subject.
