Breeze Lake is an alpine treasure in southeast Yosemite. With a steep mountainside to the east and open sky to the west, late day magic light puts on a dazzling show. At almost 10,000 feet, the reflected sky is very deep blue and the golden light of the setting sun creates a golden glow on the mountainside, all sculpted by the breeze on the water.
The creative process is unique, all by hand. A twelve-color pigment print on Somerset Velvet is affixed to board and sealed with a clear-coat for UV protection. No glass is needed, and the image is float mounted in a hardwood maple frame. The result is striking color, clarity and an uncanny three-dimensionality.
Most of my work is drawn from nature, but I enjoy creating images whose origins may not be readily clear. This kind of abstract view often leads to artworks that are peaceful and relaxing, but also a bit mysterious.
