As soon as we parked the truck my boots were on the ground tearing bags open, donning layers and assembling my camera. I immediately took off running into the woods. There were only minutes before our few moments of magic light would began and fewer minutes before they were spent. When the sun is about 5° below the horizon on a cloudless day the colors she yields are always primal and short lived. One moment the forest ebbed in predawn grey and the next it was alive with a piercing magenta tinted gold! The shadows played on the trees and, with their curves coming to life, it appeared to me that they danced for the next few moments.
In 2017 this forest was cut down and replaced by a cattle farm.
