I am a fan of Jean Michele Basquiat and was independently studying his work and reading about his life when I created this live at an event in Deep Ellum in Dallas. There was a live music show and I was invited to paint live. It is one of my favorite pieces I’ve done. I used acrylic paint, scraping tools, palette knives, and brushes. This piece is 30″ x 36″ x 3/4″ and it is the original painting. I named it “Dyslexic Stoplight” because the top of the street light is green and the bottom is red. I have a learning difference in mathematics, dyscalculia, but I am not Dyslexic. It’s a quirky piece with a Scottish terrier in the background not sure if he should or shouldn’t cross the street because of the stoplight. I’m originally from Cape Town, South Africa and we call traffic lights stop lights there.
