It was an early morning in Everglades National Park and I had come to photograph dragonflies.  As I came to the pond that I hoped should have some bugs, I could hear several crows. I slowly crept to the water’s edge and to my right were crows, various small shorebirds, and a dainty egret.  To my left, a swarm of dragonflies and a solitary egret just peacefully taking in the day.  I looked back to the right to decide where I wanted to set up for the morning and suddenly there was a flash of movement to my left.  The lone egret was now jumping around and showing off.  I quickly set up my camera and the egret took flight. I focused in as he circled to the right, landed, and then proceeded to put his head feathers up and fly/run toward the other egret, all while the crows looked on.  He was showing off and feeling the spring day; to which the other bird wanted no part of it! I feel honored to have captured the Egret Dance.
