These ancient cottonwood trees are a fixture at our local Fairgrounds. This image was taken on a winter day after a significant snowfall. The ephemeral atmosphere of snow, fog, and cold air created beautiful hoarfrost on all surfaces. I knew the opportunity for a special photograph was there the morning this was taken and I was not disappointed. The hoarfrost disappeared later that day and the opportunity would have been lost had I waited even 2 hours.
Linda Roberts is a landscape, nature and fine art photographer based in Helena, Montana. Her photography reflects her deep love of and respect for nature from the trees large enough to hold centuries to the briefest of insects. She feels that a photograph is more than just an image – it’s a mood, a feeling, a breath. Linda loves finding that place where an image can come to life – where it can truly breathe.
