We all know the comforting experience of fresh clothes hanging on the line while the warm sunshine and gentle breeze do their work on our fresh laundry. Or maybe it’s the clean and fresh smell of your dryer vent and the melodic turn of your clothes in the dryer. Comforting, predictable, and warm. “Fresh Laundry” is all about my nostalgia for Sunday…..laundry day.
My paintings blend geometric shapes with organic textures. I build the foundation of the painting with multiple thick layers of acrylic paint “ala prima” on a wood panel and then sand it back to reveal surprising combinations of color and texture.
Symmetrical and polished forms that are reminiscent of mid-century modern design juxtapose with rough textures to create an expression of an idea, memory, or feeling. Clean design that simultaneously feels old and new, modern and warm.
