The inspiration behind this piece was the thought that we all start with “hearts of gold”. There’s no such thing as an angry, bitter, or hateful child. But over time our heart gets hurt and we tend to guard it more carefully after that and put up defense mechanisms making it harder to be open and giving of our hearts. This is a daily reminder to be gentle with ourselves and protect that beautiful childlike innocence so that we can keep our naturally beautiful gentle hearts.
