This artwork is part of the “Old Sheet” art series. The main principle of this series is the discovery and disclosure of only one media. It is fabric – an ordinary old sheet.

My task was to study and analyze the properties of the fabric, to transform them, to combine them with other media, and as a result get an absolutely new aesthetic “life” for this media. I wanted to show how one simple material can be endlessly used, what new forms can be given to it and what content can be put into it.

The artwork “Her freedom” was created under the deep influence of Khaled Hosseini’s “A Thousand Splendid Suns”. I really wanted to show the lack of freedom not only of Afghan women, but also of all women oppressed, deprived of their rights and choice, of women who are trying to break free.
