“The Louvre, or the Louvre Museum, is the world’s largest art museum and a historic monument in Paris, France.  In the 16th and 17th centuries, the Louvre served as the royal palace for French kings. It became an art museum when the French king Louis XVI moved his residence to Versailles. During the French Revolution, the Louvre became a public museum.
The Louvre, is the home of some of the best-known works of art, including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo.”
