“The conceptual style of painting that I use is that of vibrations. How do I create movement on the canvas? “Everything in life is vibration.” – Albert Einstein. The law of nature that states everything has a vibration. He said “everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want, and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy.” I started experimenting about 5 years ago with transposing this idea on the canvas. Recently painting the superheroes over the last year and a half I found the perfect outlet to expand this idea and give it a great run with multiple signings and collaborations with the actors who portray them. The paint sprays and streaks that run behind help create movement on a black and gray vignette. Strategically painting the figure over this in transparent overlays with airbrush and traditional brush work with glazes really helps complete the effect. It is time consuming and you really have to take a break to step back and observe the piece while working on it because once paint is applied it can’t be removed. Over the years several paintings have been scrapped because of rushing through or losing focus. With patience once finished the results are breathtaking.”
