While trying out different compositions one morning, I kept seeing some brown pelicans off in the distance working a bait ball. As I was packing up to leave, this beautiful bird came to rest on one of the few rocks sticking above the water. After some stretches and preening, he settled in and waited for the sun to break through the mangroves. He sat and embraced the sun while occasionally dozing—a truly magical morning.
