This is a 1:3 macro image of a purple iridescent sponge shot underwater. To allow close focusing, an extension tube and framer are inserted between the camera body and lens. The long side is approximately 3″ long in the scale of the sponge. Sponges are filter feeding animals, and the purple iridescent sponges are especially beautiful. Shot on a scuba diving trip to Roatan, one of the Bay Islands of Honduras. The eastern coast of Central America has the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world and spectacular diving.
