Walking through the New York Botanical Gardens is always a joy. Each time of year brings many different florals to photograph. This image is pink in its original iteration. The water drops were from a recent rain. I wanted it to be more impactful and therefore made it black and white.
I have been photographing seriously since 2002, starting with film and moving very quickly to digital imaging. In 2006 I decided that photography was not enough and began painting my images, printing them in black and white and using water colors to enhance the image. All my images can be seen at www.patriciagilmanstudio.com. In 2017, I took this one step further and started designing textiles made with my original photographs. These textiles are available at www.pgstudiotextiles.com.
