An iconic Florida crane species, the Sandhill Crane stands at almost 4′ tall. While touring the Norther Florida springs, I had the pleasure of viewing a large flock of these magnificent creatures. It was my first time seeing this threatened species, but hopefully not the last. They stand as a reminder of the resilience of the wilderness to the challenges faced in our modern world. The glide together across the eyes of the springs, whispers of their primordial ancestry.
