“Seeking ” was created in 2022 by master oil painter René Cheng.

“Seeking” represents the search for happiness, attention, affection,  love,  etc. Unfortunately most people search outside, instead of within. Trying to find that recognition or love through a partner, parents, kids, etc.. Some try to silence that emptiness  with alcohol, drugs, anonymous sex,…

The answers are within us. Self love, respect, living in consciousness. Unfortunately many do not want to do the work and in this fast pase world, everything has to be solved quickly and without effort. Cheng loves to make the allusion: “if you have a headache, most people take analgesic, instead of checking out the cause (source) of the ache.” Awakening, or living outside our comfort zone, may be lonely, painful and full of fear, but that is part of the journey of self discovery.

Cheng purposely painted this artwork in a kind of fuzzy way,  black and white with some slight color. Rapid, unaware, avoiding reality.

The answers are within. Cheng reminds us, that we are social and spiritual beings, to awaken and begin to value ourselves, and discover self love.
