During my time in Miami Beach I would  take my sketchbook to the bar with me to find inspiration in the design of places, with conversations with people and in the sovereign stroke of my pen. This piece began as a sketch at Mini Bar, just of 5th street in Miami Beach, as I sipped some Mezcal and talked to a couple visiting from the Midwest. The emergence of multiple toucans, stairways to the sun, microcosmic landscapes and inverted worlds arose from this setting. I then took to Lincoln Road where I began painting this piece in front of a Romero Britto Gallery as my Brazilian friend Aquiles sold his books to the passing Portuguese speakers.
