Introducing “Solomon and the Butterfly”!
Meet Solomon, a young boy depicted in a newspaper hat and holding a newspaper in his hands. Contemporary newspapers have lost their value and are now only suitable for practical use.
To create this artwork, I decided to experiment with a mixed media technique, something I had never done before. Armed with PVA glue and a free newspaper I received in the metro, I covered a significant portion of the canvas.
“Solomon and the Butterfly” encapsulates the idea of the transience of everything that surrounds us. The phrase “And this too shall pass,” as an additional layer of meaning, reminds us that neither happiness nor sorrow is eternal, and every moment, even the most magical, passes and fades away.
The concept of the fleeting nature of time is at the core of this piece.
