The day they announced the lockdown was March 11, 2020. I remember this because I often write notes on the stretcher bars of my paintings. It was a family birthday, I was up in the studio, heard the announcement and I jotted it down.
Even though the world had started to shift and the chaos had begun. Somehow there was safety in the night sky. The stars were alway there. Shining brightly. Light in the darkness. Calm in the storm. They were something normal, something stable and something good.
As I rode out the waves of the chaos that entered my personal life I painted.
This painting is about the beauty of the night sky. The stable safety of those tiny shining lights. Always reliable and always beautiful. A friendly reminder that the universe holds us in its hand. And no matter what happens, everything is in order and everything will be okay.
