London: Tower Bridge, London Eye, Gherkin
“Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, built between 1886 and 1894. The bridge crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London and has become a world-famous symbol of London.
Tower Bridge is famous because it is London’s most striking bridge thanks to its Neo-Gothic architecture and lifting central sections. When it opened, it was the most sophisticated bascule bridge in the world. Bascule is a French word, that can be translated as seesaw, and describes how the two sides of the road of Tower Bridge open. Each bascule moves around an off-center pivot, meaning they look a bit like a seesaw in a children’s playground.
The Crown Jewels, part of the Royal Collection, are the most powerful symbols of the British Monarchy and hold deep religious and cultural significance in the nation’s history. This magnificent, world-famous collection of 23,578 gemstones are located in Tower of London.
Bridges represent a symbol of connection, stability, and progress, while a river is used to symbolize the power of nature.”
