A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

Michael Joseph is an American fine art photographer who is best known for his award-winning black-and-white photographs of architecture and structures. He was born in the industrial town of Methuen, Massachusetts in 1962. He is a self-taught photographer whom works with the traditional medium of 35mm Black & White film photography. He has traveled to all 48 contiguous United States, many international cities, and continues to make interesting photographs otherwise gone unnoticed. His photographs are in several important public, private, and museum collections, and can also be seen in several television shows, commercials, and movies.

WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO

My passion for photography began as a child while I watched my father magically make images appear before my eyes with his Polaroid camera. I was intrigued, and the impressionistic act exemplified creativity, wonderment, and the joy of discovery. The art of photography is the medium of the moment. Seemingly as spontaneous as a snapshot, the image does not emerge mechanically from the camera, but stylistically from the mind of the artist. When making a photograph, I am actually seeking, and concentrating on finding a new dimension that is inherent by light and shadow – time and space. It is an instantaneous event that occurs unknowing to the architects, planners, and builders.
