This original painting is from the High Line series showing the iconic train trestle rusty and unused before it became a walking park.
Tim Saternow’s paintings explore the gritty industrial streets of New York; the old dignified houses of Provincetown; and the empty spaces of the High Desert around Joshua Tree, California.
Tim Saternow, an Emmy nominated art director for TV and films, and a theatre lighting & set designer, is extremely sensitive to the emotive power of light, while playing across the faces of the old houses, warehouses, and train trestles. Â I also find energy and timelessness in the rust, stains and patina of these old locations, and the stories they tell.
I paint a moment, with light and shadow, and I make the city quiet.
