After many years of working in commercial and technical illustration, Jim Molloy turned off the computer, picked up a paint brush, and returned to his true love of oil painting. Entirely self-taught, Molloy learned to paint by studying the work of old masters, impressionistic and post-impressionistic painters, and by working with contemporary illustrators and artists. After years of painting the landscape of Long Island and New England he decided to do something different and started painting a series of still life’s using geometric shapes and primary colors. Some of these pieces are nostalgic and sometimes humorous. His paintings provide the viewer with a place to escape from their everyday life. A native of Long Island, Jim lives in Miller Place, NY with his wife Susan.
