The structure is based on the Fibonacci Sequence of 8 spirals in one direction and 13 in the other, as seen in some flowers, pinecones and other plant life. It is not a literal flower, but a study of light and color using the perfect mathematical structure inherent within many life forms, combined with the imperfect organic random variation of life expressed through the textured brush strokes that create the ‘petals.’
