Born in North Philadelphia, Catherine Kuzma earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, from Rutgers University.
Her oil paintings have been shown nationally and locally in Philadelphia, New Jersey. and New York City in solo, group and juried exhibitions. Publication of her work includes the cover of 2019 The Best of Philadelphia Stories, 15th Anniversary Edition, Anthology. the cover and interior of Philadelphia Stories 2019 Spring issue, Art and Beyond2019 March issue, the cover of July 2018 Tishman Review, and cover feature of 2015 US1 Poetry Journal.
Sparking the rich, meditative process of painting, nature and landscape serve as the initial inspiration for Kuzma’s paintings. Further along, these first impressions ignite a much deeper and intimate conversation with the subtle through the vehicle of painting, the journey of this quiet conversation recorded on canvas through layers of color and brushstroke. Sometimes the conversations are smooth and easy ones, while others more labored, thick with many layers. Regardless, the process has always been one rich with realization. “Painting is what feeds me. Without it I feel only half alive.”
