Artist Statement
Often, I start a painting without a set idea in mind. The process is instinctual, and the paintings are made up of several layers. As the layers build up, some things are highlighted, and others are hidden with just a hint of their existence. I am fascinated by forms and symbols, these could be organic, geometric or cultural. The shapes and colors may evoke a mystical, spiritual, philosophical or cultural response or just a sense of whimsy.
